Food Safety and Traceability Implementation Support
Program Description: This program is designed to assist Manitoba’s agri-food and agri-product sectors in adopting and improving food safety and traceability practices. Financial assistance will be provided to eligible recipients for the development and implementation of food safety programs, food safety training, validation and verification activities and traceability. Food safety and traceability are not only important for public safety but also a requirement for many regulators, associations and customers.
Bridging Generations
Assisting Manitoba's young farmers is one of MASC's primary lending objectives. The Bridging Generations Initiative (BGI) provides farmers under the age of 40 with financial incentives and customized terms and repayment options.
The Bridging Generations Initiative aims to assist with the transfer of farm assets between young farmers and retiring producers.
Building Envelope, Lighting, Ventilation
The Building Envelope, Lighting and Ventilation Upgrades funding stream supports the assessment and upgrades applicable to new and existing agri-food and agri-product production and office areas and equipment that create energy savings and/or GHG reductions.
This funding stream supports assessment and upgrades that are unique to any programs offered by other provincial or federal agencies or programs.
Processing Equipment
The Capital Infrastructure and Investments program supports the growth and expansion of Manitoba’s agri-processing sector. The program helps applicants with capital investment purchases for modernization and capacity-building activities that enhance efficiency, productivity and environmental sustainability, by providing access to:
• The development and implementation of new technologies
• New markets through the implementation of quality control measures
• Streamlined and better managed operations, increased efficiency, and increased profitability by integrating company operations
• New revenue streams associated with offering co-packing services
• Co-packing services for brand owners who may not own their own agriprocessing capacity
Crop Land Management
Funding to support the adoption of cropland management practices that optimize operations and improve productivity
Training and Resource Development
The Market Development program is designed to advance the agriculture, agri-food and agri-product sector's innovation and business capacity to maintain existing markets and capture emerging market opportunities. The program will provide financial assistance to eligible recipients for market development activities that enhance the interprovincial trade and export capacity of individual businesses and improve overall domestic and international trade access for the sector.
Input Use Efficiency
Funding to reduce wastage of agri-food and agri-product inputs that occur during storage of ingredients and during processing by supporting the purchase of assets and systems that will mitigate wastage at these points.
Waste Use Efficiency
The Market Development program is designed to advance the agriculture, agri-food and agri-product sector's innovation and business capacity to maintain existing markets and capture emerging market opportunities. The program will provide financial assistance to eligible recipients for market development activities that enhance the interprovincial trade and export capacity of individual businesses and improve overall domestic and international trade access for the sector.
Industry Development Initiatives
Industry Development Initiatives program will advance the agriculture, agri-food and agri-product sector's capacity and competitiveness by providing funding to support incremental group learning activities, knowledge transfer events and resource development. The program will provide financial assistance to eligible applicants for activities that enhance the sector.
Planning and Consulting
Supports access to community driven culturally relevant assistance services and the development of resource materials that focus on food system development and expansion, increases agriculture knowledge, business development, management and planning, risk awareness, and market expansion.
Co-packing Capacity Building
The Capital Infrastructure and Investments program supports the growth and expansion of Manitoba’s agri-processing sector. The program helps applicants with capital investment purchases for modernization and capacity-building activities that enhance efficiency, productivity and environmental sustainability, by providing access to: • The development and implementation of new technologies • New markets through the implementation of quality control measures • Streamlined and better managed operations, increased efficiency, and increased profitability by integrating company operations • New revenue streams associated with offering co-packing services • Co-packing services for brand owners who may not own their own agriprocessing capacity
Enhancing Indigenous Food Systems
Supports activities to develop and implement community based food systems from planning through to development and implementation. Food systems planning includes a broad range of activities that may include revitalization of traditional food systems, agriculture, community gardens, and local food sovereignty initiatives, and processing and preservation.

The program helps applicants with capital investment purchases for modernization and capacity-building activities that enhance efficiency, productivity, and environmental sustainability, by providing access to:

Bee Mortality Assistance
The Canada-Manitoba Bee Mortality Assistance Program provides funding to Manitoba commercial beekeepers who experienced extraordinary costs due to overwinter losses during the winter of 2021/22.
Under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership and AgriRecovery, commercial beekeepers, those with 50 or more hives, and registered with the province, can apply for funding for replacement colonies, nucleus colonies, package bees and/or queens.
Quality Control Capacity Building

Relationship Development and Engagement
The Relationship Development and Engagement program supports actions and activities related to engagement and enhancing relationships between Industry, academia, and Indigenous peoples. Community engagement is a critical component of project design, development and success. The program offers funding to eligible applicants to engage community members from project development through to project design and delivery.
Carbon Sequestration and Grassland Resilience
To increase the environmental resilience of agricultural landscapes by accelerating the adoption of beneficial on-farm land use and management practices that increase carbon sequestration. These include practices that enhance provision of multiple ecological goods and services (EGS), which are the environmental benefits that result from the physical, chemical and biological processes of a healthy ecosystem.

The Research and Innovation Program supports the development of science-based solutions and tools that address known challenges, prepare for potential disruptions and climate threats, and capture emerging opportunities in the agriculture and agri-food sector. The Program provides funding to eligible applicants for basic and applied research and capacity building projects that advance the growth and sustainability of the sector by fast-tracking the pace of innovation. This can include the development of new technologies and practices, new products, and the advancement of knowledge.
