Food Safety and Traceability Implementation Support

Program Description: This program is designed to assist Manitoba’s agri-food and agri-product sectors in adopting and improving food safety and traceability practices. Financial assistance will be provided to eligible recipients for the development and implementation of food safety programs, food safety training, validation and verification activities and traceability. Food safety and traceability are not only important for public safety but also a requirement for many regulators, associations and customers.

• Development and implementation of preventive food safety programs (e.g., Preventive Control Plans, HACCP, GFSI-certified schemes), including:
o Consultant fees (max $20,000)
o Pre-audit/gap assessments
o First food safety audit by accredited body
o Lab testing fees
o Food safety software
o Process/product validation
o Pre-approved facility modifications
• Registration fees for food safety training
• Purchase of educational materials
• Purchase of food safety equipment not on pre-approved list

• Consultant fees
• Traceability software
• Training/setup costs for new systems or equipment
