Commodity Loan
The Commodity loan guarantee program (CLGP) supports farmers by providing access to short-term operating loans for the purchase of crop input supplies, such as seed, fertilizer and pesticides.
It is administered on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) by the Agricultural Credit Corporation (ACC). ACC is a private sector, not-for-profit financial institution comprised of various producer associations and marketing boards. Qualifying farmers can borrow up to $750,000 under the CLGP.
Tile Loan
Installing tile drainage is a very common land improvement practice among farmers in Ontario. Corrugated plastic tubing, clay and concrete drain tile are installed beneath the surface of agricultural land to drain excess water from the crop root zone. The benefits of tile drainage for crop productivity, farm efficiency and even for reducing environmental impacts have been studied and are generally well known to farmers.
In Ontario, the Tile Loan Program, authorized by the Tile Drainage Act, provides loans to agricultural property owners to help them finance these tile drainage projects.
Conservation Land Tax
The Conservation Land Tax Incentive Program recognizes, encourages and supports the long-term private stewardship of Ontario’s provincially important natural areas. Under the Conservation Land Tax Incentive Program, portions of your property that have eligible natural heritage features may qualify for a 100% property tax exemption.
The area needs to be:
identified by the ministry as one of the eligible land types listed below in the ‘What is eligible’ section
1⁄5 of a hectare (½ acre) or larger in size
You also need to:
commit to protecting the designated portion of your property
allow ministry staff to inspect it if requested

Growing Future Opportunities
The Canadian and Ontario governments launched this initiative to help growers plant varieties of produce that would improve quality, production, and marketability.
The funding was available through the Growing Future Opportunities Initiative, under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership.

Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program
Program Description/ Objectives: Support the environmental resiliency of agricultural landscapes by accelerating the adoption of Ecological Goods and Services (EG&S) Beneficial Management Practices (BMPs). Ecological goods and services are the benefits society derives from healthy functioning ecosystems and include the maintenance and provision of healthy soil and water resources, wildlife habitat and biodiversity, and adapting to the impacts of climate change. Projects must provide incremental ecological goods and services benefits. The specific outcomes for the program include:
• Greenhouse gas emission reductions
• Improved soil health
• Increased conservation and restoration of critical wildlife habitat
• Strengthened resilience of agricultural lands
• Improved water quality The Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP) will primarily use an acreage-based payment approach and some activities will have multi-year agreements in place.
Grape Industry Development Program
Objectives: • To provide assistance for the establishment of new or more productive vineyards. • To assist with the adoption of new vineyard technologies and/ or purchase of specialized vineyard equipment that will improve grape production practices in New Brunswick (NB).
Cranberry Industry Development Program
Program Description/ Objectives: • To provide assistance to New Brunswick cranberry growers for the establishment of cranberry varieties with improved yield or marketability. • To assist with the adoption of new cranberry production technologies and/or purchase of specialized equipment that will improve cranberry production practices in New Brunswick (NB).
Beneficial Management Practices
Assist producers in taking concrete steps to improve the environmental performance of their operations including activities to conserve and enhance the natural resources utilized by the New Brunswick agriculture industry, minimize the environmental impact of agricultural activities, and mitigate and adapt to climate change.
Agro-Environmental Services
To support and deliver high-quality agro-environmental services to agricultural producers related to on-farm climate change and environmental sustainability. The services may include: nutrient management planning, integrated pest management planning, soil health-related initiatives, environmental farm plan support, beneficial management practices adoption support and support for research led by departmental staff. The services delivered will foster environmental leadership across agricultural sectors and regions and include educational and information and technology transfer activities focused on environmental sustainability and climate change adaptation and mitigation.
