Hedgerow/Buffer Zone

This program helps landowners in Prince Edward Island establish tree and shrub plantings that deliver critical environmental benefits. The goal is to reduce wind and water erosion, prevent runoff into water bodies, and shield farm infrastructure and livestock through natural windbreaks. Plantings contribute to long-term land stability and ecological health.

Eligible funding may include:
• Supply and planting of seedlings for windbreaks or buffer zones
• Tree and shrub rows to reduce water runoff and protect waterways
• Vegetative barriers that enhance soil retention and microclimate control

This initiative supports sustainable land management through practical, nature-based solutions.
