The Agriculture Research and Innovation Program will support farm-level applied research, innovation and adoption projects that are designed to address challenges and opportunities and increase the competitiveness, productivity and profitability of the PEI agriculture industry.

Amount

Agriculture Industry Associations: 75% of eligible expenses up to $60,000 for one-year projects and $80,000 for multi-year projects for eligible program expenses. Projects may be considered for additional funding as determined by the program review committee.

• Agricultural Producers: 50% of eligible expenses up to $30,000 for one-year projects and $40,000 for multi-year projects for eligible program expenses.
• Public and Academic Institutions, and Agribusinesses: 25% of expenses up to $30,000 for one-year projects and $40,000 for multi-year projects for eligible program expenses.

Variety/Crop Trials: Yield evaluation, climate suitability, pest resistance, pollination improvement

Crop & Livestock Research: Supporting on-farm diversification and commercialization of agri-based products

Pest Management Research: Quantifying pest issues and evaluating risk-reduction methods

Climate-Focused Research: Addressing crop/livestock challenges linked to climate change

Clean Tech & Knowledge Gaps: Short- to medium-term projects targeting scientific gaps or clean tech innovation

Knowledge Transfer: Information sharing and extension activities

Salaries and consulting fees

Equipment and monitoring equipment rental

Project-related travel (e.g., plot visits)

Materials and supplies

Analytical lab fees
