BC Traceability Funding

This cost-shared program helps BC food, animal, and seafood businesses implement traceability technologies, practices, and infrastructure to comply with regulatory standards. Funding is available for planning, software and hardware installation, staff training, and system upgrades that enhance traceability across operations.

Eligible funding may include:
• Purchase and installation of software, tag readers, and label printers
• Consultant support for recall planning and implementation
• Staff training and incremental technology costs like tablets or computers

The program strengthens traceability systems to support food safety, transparency, and risk mitigation.

Eligible Purposes

This funding stream supports the adoption of traceability systems in food, livestock, and seafood operations. Eligible activities include:

• Consultant services for system planning, recall exercises, and GS1 registration
• Hardware and software installations, including RFID/tag readers and label printers
• Staff training and custom software development to improve system integration

Other investments may be eligible if they enhance traceability and meet regulatory compliance standards.
