Miguel Grows a Shared Future in Kings County, Nova Scotia

Say hello to Miguel, a dedicated grower from Kings County, Nova Scotia, who just received $27,000 to support a Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) fruit orchard.

Miguel’s project focuses on connecting people with their food—and each other. With the grant funding, he’s planting apple, pear, and plum trees, improving cold storage, and building a pickup station for weekly fruit shares.

“Fresh food should be accessible and grown with care,” Miguel says. “This grant helps make that dream possible.”

Miguel’s CSA model invites members of the community to invest in the farm at the start of the season, then receive weekly harvests throughout the year. The support from this grant means Miguel can expand faster, involve more families, and cultivate a space that nourishes both body and spirit.
