Saskatchewan LEAN Improvements in Manufacturing

The Saskatchewan Lean Improvements in Manufacturing (SLIM) program provides funding assistance to agri-businesses for the adoption of best practices, new state-of-the-art technologies and processes stimulating significant improvements in productivity efficiency and greenhouse gas emission reductions through:

  • Automation, efficient manufacturing processes and technologies;

  • Investments in sustainable manufacturing with greenhouse gas emissions-reducing equipment and infrastructure; and

  • Increased productive capacity by purchasing or upgrading equipment to expand processing to a new product complementary to existing primary inputs.

Support investments in automation, efficient manufacturing processes and technologies, sustainable manufacturing infrastructure that reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and increased productive capacity through equipment upgrades or expansion into new, complementary products.

Examples of eligible activities and costs include:

  • New Technology (including design):
    Costs associated with implementing new technologies

  • Equipment to Increase Labour Productivity:
    Investments in equipment that reduces labour costs

  • Equipment to Expand Manufacturing Capacity or Enable New Product Lines:
    Costs related to expanding production capabilities with equipment upgrades

  • Emission Reduction Equipment or Infrastructure:
    Investments in equipment or infrastructure that reduce GHG emissions

  • Business Analysis:
    Costs associated with third-party business analysis to identify areas for operational improvement
