Perennial Crop Development
This program supports the adoption of perennial crop systems that enhance ecological and economic outcomes in PEI’s agriculture sector. Perennial crops help improve soil health, reduce erosion, and increase nutrient and water-use efficiency. Funding is delivered through two streams: Perennial Crop Establishment and Perennial Crop Efficiency.
Eligible funding may include:
• Installation of drip irrigation, weed barriers, or exclusion netting for perennial crops
• Purchase of planting materials and wind-resilient trellis systems
• Adoption of technologies that enhance product quality or reduce production costs
This initiative helps farmers transition to perennial systems that support long-term resilience and profitability.
