Support for commercialization, demonstration, and/or adoption of commercial-ready innovative technologies and processes that enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the agricultural and agri-food sector

Examples of Eligible Activities:

  • Commercialization of innovative bio-based plastics or other synthetics as alternative food packaging materials

    • Must be new to Canada and offer significant benefits over other bio-based plastics

  • Construction of a new facility to commercialize a novel and impactful technique for producing alternative protein or other food products

  • Commercialization of meat cutting technologies or processes that are new to the agriculture sector

    • Must provide significant benefits over traditional meat cutting methods

  • Significant adaptation of robotics equipment from non-agricultural sectors for agricultural applications

    • Example: adapting robotics for vertical farming

  • Demonstration of a new and impactful artificial intelligence platform to support crop growing or food processing operations

  • Significant adaptation of commercially ready controlled environment agriculture systems

    • Specifically for northern climates and/or remote areas

    • Must improve sustainability and cost-effectiveness
