Agricultural Water Infrastructure

This program supports the adoption of efficient irrigation systems and on-farm water infrastructure to improve agricultural water management across BC. It is designed for primary producers seeking to enhance productivity while conserving water and supporting ecosystem health. The program encourages innovative technologies that reduce labour and promote sustainable food production.

Eligible funding may include:

  • Adoption of autonomous irrigation systems and robotics

  • Installation of smart monitoring tools and water-saving infrastructure

  • Implementation of AI-based or sensor-driven water management technologies

All projects must contribute to long-term improvements in farm water efficiency and resource conservation.

Eligible Purposes

Funding may be used to support sustainable water infrastructure and irrigation innovation, including:

  • Autonomous equipment for transplanting, weeding, harvesting, and crop transport

  • Smart sensors for livestock monitoring, temperature, sap flow, or virtual fencing

  • AI systems and farm software for optimizing irrigation and water decision-making
