Perennial Crop Renewal

The Perennial Crop Renewal Program supports producers to remove unproductive, diseased, or unmarketable cultivars and to adopt growing systems that are better suited to environmental conditions and market demands.

The Perennial Crop Renewal Program (PCRP) is an up to $15M program funded by the Government of BC through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (AF) and delivered by the Investment Agriculture Foundation of BC (IAF).

To support farmers to adapt to environmental and market conditions by diversifying, renovating, or expanding production.
Split into three streams:
Sector Development Projects: These projects support industry associations or stakeholder groups in assessing market opportunities, conducting feasibility or climate suitability studies, and undertaking applied research to evaluate innovative growing systems.
Removal Projects: This stream supports producers in removing unproductive, diseased, or unmarketable perennial crops, including field infrastructure.
Sector-Specific Planting Projects: This provides funding for producers to plant new perennial cultivars and adopt growing systems that increase efficiency or extend the harvest season. Eligible crops include apples, cherries, grapes, raspberries, blueberries, and hazelnuts.
