Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure

The Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP) is a grant launched by the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation (JEDI), with a funding allocation of $33M per year from fiscal year 2022-23 through to fiscal year 2024-25. REDIP supports projects that promote the following: 

  • Economic diversification

  • Resilience

  • Clean growth opportunities

  • Infrastructure development

Purposes

Support economic development and diversification in rural communities across British Columbia.
Such As:
Community assessment projects: Projects that evaluate a community's economic strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
Capacity building projects: Initiatives that enhance a community's ability to attract investment, develop its workforce, and manage economic development initiatives.
Engagement projects: Activities that involve the community in economic development planning and decision-making.
Staff recruitment and retention projects: Initiatives to attract and retain skilled professionals needed for economic development.
Economic Diversification: Projects are divided into Development and Implementation grants.
Development grants: Support the planning stages of programs, services, and infrastructure projects aimed at diversifying the local economy.
Implementation grants: Fund the actual execution of programs or services, or the construction of infrastructure, to achieve economic diversification goals.
Forest Impact Transition: Projects eligible under REDIP-ED (Economic Diversification) are those that help communities adapt to changes in the forestry sector, such as mill closures or reduced timber supply.
